First call for papers

International symposium on global perspectives on social sciences and humanities - theory and practice

Dear Colleague,

We are pleased to announce that the "International symposium on global perspectives on social sciences and humanities – theory and practice" will be held in Warsaw, Poland.
The Symposium will be hosted by the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw (PAN) on September 16-18, 2015.

We invite papers, workshop and poster proposals related to the broadly conceived thematic field of Social Sciences and Humanities.

We would be very grateful if you could disseminate this information among your friends and colleagues.

Contemporary societies are confronted by a variety of significant changes. The impacts of these changes are obvious at the local as well as global scale to the same extent, affecting the daily life of individuals and their communities as a whole. The significant role of the social sciences cannot be overlooked in the interpretation of these multifaceted social changes. More than any other discipline, the social sciences are in the focal position to evaluate changes and problems, determine causal links, interpret the available information, and offer remedies.

Accordingly, the purpose of the SSHIF2015 - Social Sciences and Humanities in Focus is to contribute to the recognition and perception of various contemporary social issues from a global perspective that we encounter in the different segments of the social life. The symposium offers a wide scale of topics to be discussed in local and global terms, either through the lens of the social sciences or through interdisciplinary collaboration.


The symposium has been planned to cover a range of critically important issues and themes relating to the Interdisciplinary Social Sciences community. Plenary speakers include some of the leading thinkers in these areas, as well as a numerous paper, colloquium, poster and workshop presentations.

The confirmed plenary speakers are:

  • Prof. Dr. Yusuf Ziya Özcan (Sociologist –Turkish Ambassador to Poland)
  • Dr. Hasan Hasanov (Historian- Former Prime Minister of Azerbaijan - Azerbaijan Ambassador to Poland)
  • Prof. Dr. Mirosław Pawlak (Linguist - Rector of the State School of Higher Professional Education in Konin, Poland)
  • Dr. Wojciech Zając (Pedagogist – Associate Dean of the University of Security in Poznań, Department of Social Studies in Gliwice, Poland)

We are inviting proposals for paper presentations, workshops/ posters/exhibits, or colloquia) addressing the social sciences in one of the following themes and their subfields:

Proposal ideas that extend beyond these thematic areas will also be considered.


Abstracts of papers, workshops or posters in the range of 200-250 words should be sent to the symposium e-mail: by June 15th, 2015. Please note that the abstracts should be sent on special abstract form available on our website: Each participant will have the opportunity to present 2 papers. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by July 15th, 2015. Accepted presentations will be published in an edited book and in an International Journal.
